Free State Young Artist Award Celebrating 2019: Year of the Fly
Free State Young Artist Award. The Museum has joined the international community in celebrating 2019: Year of the Fly.
2019 is intended as a celebration of flies and their role in nature and human society. During the year the intention is to educate the general public about the diversity, significance and beauty of flies and how they affect our lives. Visit yearofthefly.org for more.

The Award Ceremony
July 2019
The Finalists in each category will be invited to an Award Ceremony where entomologist, Burgert Muller, will give a popular talk on flies. Our panel of judges will select the winners in each category and offer professional advice to each aspiring artist. The winning artworks will be displayed at the museum.
Competition Rules
Only original artworks created in 2019 can be entered.
Artworks must speak to and highlight the importance of insect biodiversity in South Africa. Artworks can be two or three dimensional and made from a variety of mediums.
Artworks may not be larger than 1m x 1m x1m or weigh more than 30kg.
All entries must be accompanied by a completed entry form.
Competition in the Free State Young Artist Award closes 30 June 2019 at 15h00. No late entries accepted.
