Kunstefees: Bloemfontein Art Market and Festival
For 7 days in July Bloemfontein holds its annual Kunstefees. The festival celebrates artistic expression and the connections between cultures.
The dominant cultures of the Kunstefees are Afrikaans, English and Sotho, but all cultures are welcome. All you have to do is contribute to the exchange of ideas through art, culture and society. One of the goals of the Kunstefees is to bring people together.
The most popular feature of the Bloemfontein Kunstefees is the art market. This is the place where you can buy beautiful artwork from artists. You can also buy hand crafted gifts and unique clothing items. Every year brings a different set of creative people together to sell their works.
No market would be complete with delicious food. Throughout the art market you will find tasty food stalls to suit every flavour preference.
More than a common art market, you are able to enjoy live music, drama, comedy, story theater, dance and film. And this is what makes it an art festival!
The art festival plays a vital role in developing artists, audiences and innovation, with over 160,000 expected visitors per year. If you are an artist, this is a great place to showcase your creativity.
The mission of the Kunstefees is to support the development and presentation of great art in the Free State for all.
